The final pictures of the sculpt

In the final version, Mark went with thinner and lighter eyebrows to give Rama a more youthful look. The gems will be shaped during production so they fit nicely into the armor and bow. Also, the string for the bow will be added during production as it is not something that can be sculpted and cast.

The Eyes

The eyes were added next and some changes were made to the face. We felt Rama needed a calmer look on his face to match the majestic pose.

The reason we were so excited about working with Mark was that he got the essence of the myth and Rama from the outset. We discussed ideas but he was ready to go and within a week we saw these first images of the sculpt.

Virgin Comics Launches its Collectibles Line

Virgin Comics has made its foray into the high-end collectors market and is developing "Rama - The Warrior Prince" for a July release. Stay tuned for all the details and pictures from production upto release. The statue is sculpted by Mark Newman and based on an original design by Alex Ross from the cover of explosive series, Ramayan 3392 AD.
